music presentation night 08
- Thursday, December 11, 2008 -

and so i guess i got the closure i was looking for...
music presentation night was brilliant (although my view may be a little biased xDDD)
our best performance of the whole year, showcasing the results of all our hard work and dedication throughout the year =]

i'll miss the music at carlo so so so so so so so much. it's totally different from being in NYCO, where everyone is so so dedicated and serious and we prac so much and work so very hard. NYCO was great, but then there were times when i got so stressed and pressured, and it just took the fun out of everything, although when looking back one can say that all that stress just made the end all that much sweeter.

everyone just has so much fun, but we still get the work done. don't know why there's less stress and pressure; i guess, less competitiveness, and different attitudes?

anyway! i think all the oldies loved the monty python song "the song that goes like this" although most of us in choir are.. pretty much over it xDD it's too lame, and yeah, everyone feels pretty diao about it XP
BUT BUT!! we TOTALLY rocked with pemulwuy, WAHAHAHAHAHA =] and yayyyyyy i didn't make any slip ups with the accompaniment.
concert band 2 (the junior band) had a HILARIOUS performance ok. spongebob squarepants song! (which i don't know the name of) everyone was laughing when mr cooper came out with a spongebob stuffed toy xDDDD and he conducted with a sword and a hook for a hand.. hmmmmm... xDD
strings played Titanic OST. made me want to watch Titanic again T_T their rendition of it is so very haunting and touching... so proud of them! cause a lot of them are only year 7s, and they can play so well already!
stage band was cool! hahahahaha. i admire zach, their accompanist. halfway through the song he stood up to play his improvisation (it was jazz) and i was just like o.O!!! HOW DOES HE DO THAT. can't ever play the piano properly standing up T_T
concert band 1 then took the stage and stunned us all with their skill and precision and yeah.. could really feel the bonding and concentration and how they were all together and the dynamics and everything. and mr cooper transformed from a silly, fun conductor, to this fully serious, enigmatic and powerful conductor. pro =]

and then, PRIZEGIVING!
I WANTED A BOWLING PIN OK T_T
(just an explanation. every year, we go bowling on music tour. then every year, the staff "beg" for a few old bowling pins that are going to be thrown away anyway, and then polish them and add ribbons and write on them to turn them into "trophies" for music tour.)
it was fully like the "academy awards", or so mr long says XP nominations and drumroll (contributed by stomping feet) and all xDD

anyway, i think categories this year were: happiest tourist, roadie of the tour, quietest achiever, most enthusiastic performer, most charismatic leader, rookie of tour (only for ppl who went on tour this year for the first time) and best musician.
THEN!
i got NOMINATED (4 nominations per category) for happiest tourist, most enthusiastic performer and best musician. then i DID NOT GET ANY. SO SAD!
although i really wanted the bowling pin for happiest tourist lor.. so funny! haha cause i think i was so hypo so much of the time.. but very very sad! i only got nominated. bleahhhhhhhh.
then i was just all depressed when they started giving out the ensemble awards.

basically, for each ensemble, they give out one encouragement award (music stand) and trophy!

quoting from mr long, "there's no particular criteria, basically the teachers just choose who they like best. don't worry, i'm joking, because we do TRY to give it out every year to someone who not only shows a high level of achievement, but is also highly dedicated, cooperative, and most importantly, passionate about music.

whee~! then for concert band 1, CLARA GOT ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD! then we were all high-ing and cheering and clapping for her! very cool, cause she's only in year 10! then there's all these very very pro year 11 and 12 ppl XP

and ronald got encouragement award for choir! yay! =] feel happy for him xDD cause he really works very hard and he always turns up for practices... and he's a GUY! which makes everything he does an even greater achievement, LOL

and then mrs chan launched into this long speech about who she was giving out the trophy to, and then we heard the word "she" and so we all started discussing about who it could be, and i was mentally scrolling through all the seniors in choir (a lot of them who are really nice and hardworking and talented!!!!!!!!!!!!! =])
and then mrs chan was like "and she's leaving next year, and i'll miss her so much" and then i was like "IT HAS TO BE YANA!!!!!!!!!!" (year 12 senior who is sooooooo nice and and and and just very nice. xDDD and sings very very very well and very dedicated to choir =])

and i thought i was hallucinating when chan said my name T_T
i can't believe this ALWAYS happens to me. i always don't expect it... which is so sad! but hmm, i don't know, somehow i feel i don't deserve it....! cause there's seniors and all, and although i'm the accompanist and everything.. ahhhh hard to describe feeling. and i feel very sad for yana, cause i think she should've gotten the trophy! ><"

oh well... trophy:
and because you can't see the engraving:
---------------------------

and today was officially the last day of school...
tomorrow's graduation, and then formal at night, and then going over to pris' house for after party/sleepover
and it just hasn't sunk in yet, that after tomorrow, i'll probably never set foot in carlo grounds ever again. that after tomorrow, no more seeing so many of my teachers, no more high-ing during class with diana and pansy and just... sighhhhhhhhh...
it's so horrible when i'm becoming plagued with doubt AGAIN about whether i made the right choice. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE CARLINGFORD AND MY FRIENDS AND CHOIR SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! forever.

worried about graduation tomorrow. getting back school cert and yearly reports.. hope i didn't stuff up either too badly ><"
