impulse.
- Sunday, January 11, 2009 -

it's a good book, really!
and then i find myself wondering when did i ever start liking such books XD

i'm rather horrified that it's placed in the "youth" section of the library though ><"

cause, went to library last thursday, then normally i just borrow from the "adult" section cause i self promoted myself, HAHAHA. that, and the fact that the youth section is pathetically small and i've pretty much read all the books that i'd want to read from there. BUT, was trying to help bro find books (he's exhausted the children's section) and then yeah, i'm glad that i was there "supervising" (no lah, more like recommending, HAHAHAHA)what books he'd borrow.

wouldn't want him picking up something like "impulse" *cough*

well yeah, was looking through the books, and HEY, there's this new book, impulse, New York Times bestseller!!!! =]
and flipping through, wow, it's all.. poems?! o.O (as in the whole story is told in poems from 3 diff POVs) but now nearly finishing the book, i've taken to reading it like normal prose, HAHAHAHA (very sad actually) but still it retains a certain rhythm and style, very cool! XD

i guess the NORMAL me would've put the book down again (after all, the cover art is already... ... ><" XD and the synopsis is pretty.. hmmmmmmmm. XD) but oh well... i guess i do have to read diff genres.

still... i can't believe the librarian just put the book in youth section. the book is wayyy too disturbing and well basically just.. WRONG for like.. a 13/14/15 year old to read. *cough* (yeah i happily stopped at 15 XP) oh well.

it's very well written though (or at least i think it is) hahahahaha. er i'm being so random and rambling so much, bleahhh ><"
er but yeah. i'm not exactly er. recommending the book. hmmm... let's see, of the ppl who read this blog, connie would probably just be very very disturbed by it, leona would be zzzzzzzzzz-ing, nat MAY like it, but i think it's too morbid for her tastes, yvonne you're too young XP! but er i think you'll like it when you're older, minghui don't even think about it, and yeah..

o.O ok nvm XD it's just, i think things are changing, possibly because certain views i used to have are slowly but surely being broken down and falling on top of me. oh well...

there's a nice poem in the book written by one of the protagonists:
Memory is a tenuous thing....
flickering glimpses, blue
and white, like ancient,
decomposing 16mm film.
Happiness escapes
me there, where faces
are vague and yesterday
seems to come tied
up in ribbons of pain.
Happiness? I look for it instead
in today, where memory
is something I can still
touch, still rely on.
I find it in the smiles
of new friends, the
hope blossoming inside.
My happiest memories
have no place in the
past; they are those
I have yet to create.

quite a pivotal moment in the book XDDDD hahahaa
er but yeah... er i should just stop being random

I'M SO BORED!!!!!

oh and ANYONE WATCHED CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON YET?!
everyone who's watched it says it's good, and now i'm DYING to watch it T_T hmm maybe will go next week with pris XDD hahahaha
