bushfires, and other musings.

i think by now the bushfire disaster in VIC would be in the news internationally...
really an unprecedented disaster ><" still rmb geog last year, briefly studied bushfires, and in the textbook it mentioned this bushfire "disaster!" where... less than a 100 ppl died. and that's already rather appalling. (obviously, it can't compare to tsunami disasters or the like... but still... T_T)
and now the death toll sits at 180, and it's still rising, and the bushfires are still raging, uncontained. sigh.
and there's not much that can be done, except pray for those who've lost their homes (1000++ homes have been burnt down) and those who've lost loved ones. and yup. RUSE IS COOL! cause before all the profits from selling of valentine's day merchandise was going to go towards the school's building fund, but now it's going towards the bushfire help fund! yay =] XDDD
and we had one minute of silence today. hmmm... and it hit me then, how easily I could've been a victim? the bushfires were so unexpected, just swept in from rural areas, and the most horrifying thing was, THERE WAS AN ARSONIST(S). and it just spread from there, fuelled by the extreme dry weather and the strong, hot winds. unexpected, devasting, destroying and engulfing in its path.
thing is, it could easily happen somewhere in NSW as well. last year there were some small bushfires in lane cove national park i think (which is, omigosh, so near where i live *coughcough*) but they were quickly contained, but still could see/smell the smoke (which is kind of scary)
and i just wonder, what would i do if i lost everything - if my family lost everything... and quite weird, i think i'd feel the saddest about losing all my "treasures" (ie letters and all kinds of random stuff) that i've kept over the years. hmmm... and that was when i felt i could truly empathise with what it meant to lose EVERYTHING. hmm yes i am weird. T_T
oh well! i shall donate $50 tomorrow! =] it's not a lot, but hopefully it'll go a long way...
on a lighter note, mr wong (music teacher) is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS
cause he wanted us all to play something in music right
then we all did (and i was astounded by the pro-ness of my classmates. someone played debussy's estampes perfectly and then finished and apologised to the class for it being not as good as she hoped it would be, and i'm just like.. eh.. hmmm T_T and OMIGOSH i cannot get over how pro the guys in my class are. it's just, 17 year old guys spending 2-3 hours on piano each day.. the concept doesn't really go together, but hmmm. by the end of the year, i think i'll start taking it for granted.)
and it was over 2 periods, and so we had like, 15 min extra today, and so someone was like. mr wong, PLAY SOMETHING for us!
mr wong: no.... it'll look bad after all of you. i can't play as well as some of you!
member of class: come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! play something play something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mr wong: *wrings hands* well there IS something i COULD play. but i'm afraid it'll come out WRONG
us: doesn't matter! we want to hear it!
mr wong: no i really don't want to
us: don't be such a spoilsport! ><"
mr wong: ><" ><" T_T T_T *shuffles reluctantly to the piano* *sits down and looks at us beseechingly* i REALLY think this is going to turn out WRONG....
(and i was trying really really really hard not to laugh. HMMM it'd be easier if you all knew what mr wong LOOKS like, but HAHAHAHA he's hilarious. XDDDDDD but a very very good teacher. just kind of.. WEIRD. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
and then he played the finale for the nutcracker Act II i think, and it was absolutely ASTOUNDING. and we're all just like.. ... ... so much for not being able to play well *coughcough*
the melody lyrical, singing beautifully over the crisp and clean accompaniment running up and down the piano, and one can really imagine you know.. ballerinas doing their pointy toe *jumpjump* and *pointpoint* thing. ok i just ruined the image T_T *coughcough*
but yes. and OMIGOSH the way he can control tone and colour and the distinct shifts and everything is just amazing. XDDD and afterwards he was like saying, i never think in loud or soft, i just think about what COLOUR i want each section to be. i think the music turns out better that way. and we're just all like.. wow.... *lost in the profoundness of what he just said*
hahahahahaha
and YAY officially got my NEW TIMETABLE XD
and i have 5 free periods a week! YAY XD
hmmmmmmmmmm and got a letter from carlo, and i'm invited to presentation evening next wednesday! o.O YAY XD get to see my beloved carlo friends and teachers! but now i'm wondering what i should wear. T_T no way am i wearing ruse uniform, that would just be..!! gave away carlo uniform to a church friend, so T_T!! maybe i'll end up wearing choir uniform, HAHAHAHAHAHA
yup shall not ramble anymore. and i realised i didn't really "muse" much but yes, SHALL GO WORK ON MY EMMA ESSAY.
"social hierarchy" in emma. hmmmm....
requirements: double spacing, italisizing of quotes, boldening of literary techniques and underlining of the main points i'm making. interesting... XDDD to make my teacher's life easier? XP perhaps not XD
and slowly but surely, i'm falling into the ruse pace of life. time management = everything! XD efficiency of work = even more! XPP such that i can be able to spend time to type up such senseless blog posts such as this. XDDDD
lalala! valentine's day assembly tomorrow! probably will have a lot to say, because apparently they prank TEACHERS. HAHAHAHA i'm highly highly anticipating what will happen tomorrow. XDD and the assembly takes up TWO PERIODS, so ohhhhhhh yay! although rather sad, cause the two periods are double music T_T
so an early happy valentine's day everyone! (yes i know it's only actually valentine's day on sat, but XP) *blows kisses* XDDDDDDDD <3333333333333 =]
