the two flautists
- Sunday, August 16, 2009 -
both doing their (first) exam this saturday
both (very)
cute pretty girls
one 10, one 11
one doing grade 1, one doing grade 3
two so very, very different little girls
rehearsed with Y first, then T.
Y's the one doing grade 3 - her first ever exam. scary indeed.
i'm quite worried for her as well. this sounds really really mean but it was really gruelling.
i spent 10 whole minutes going through 2 bars of dotted rhythm with her.
and the whole time she was just so DAZED.
her huge eyes seemed to be gazing into another universe.
quite frustrating, really, when crochets become minims and minims become crochets and rests are missed and sharps and flats are ignored. and wrong, again, and again, and again, and again.
i attempted to explain to her, "this is a minim. it's two beats! you always play it for one beat only!"
Y: "oh.. i always come in with the next note too fast right? i should hold it for a bit longer then."
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
it's like guesswork. *sigh*
hopefully this wednesday will be better. HOPEFULLY. ><"
T was a delight. loved her immediately!
so enthu and happy and bouncy and she listened really attentively and never made the same mistake twice!
very musical =D
(and we got through everything in half an hour)
is it wrong to judge like this?
sometimes i look at some young children who obviously HATE music but are forced to do it, and i don't know whether to feel sympathy or to flare up with indignation/irritation.
it's not their choice.
but it's just.
sigh...
because i think the passionate musician will always shine brighter than one without passion. and sometimes it really worries me that i slide into the latter category T_T
