the start of europe: paris - the city =D
- Sunday, October 18, 2009 -
intending to do a series of short, picture filled blog posts (and let them do the talking, instead of long chunks of my senseless rambling) until i get to milan/venice. i probably won't be bothered when it comes to that T_T
too tired to type too much anyway XP
so, first stop was paris, and shall divide paris into 2 major segments - the city (including museums and blah) and the streets =D took (or rather managed to save) 600+ photos, but will be uploading a limited selection only XP
specific photos can be sent on request! hahahahaha.
and well. i'm seriously considering not uploading any photos with me in it, but i'll see, hahahahaha
'nuff said, time for photos! XD
paris at dawn, taken from inside the plane =D quite a welcoming sight, really <3

the bakery that was just a 2min walk from the hotel =D i have this close up photo of this scrumptious looking dessert but BLOGGER REFUSES TO LET ME UPLOAD IT *cries* so you'll have to make do with a non-close up instead. oh yeah forgot to apologise for my terrible photos in the beginning, so i apologise now XD (parisian croissants are just. different. awesomely different =D)
Basilique du Sacré-Cœur =D (you can tell the words are copy and pasted XDDD) walked there along the small cobbled parisian streets, lovely autumny cloudy day (although by the end of the two weeks i did start missing australia's vibrant blue skies)sad that photos weren't allowed inside the basilica - it was really quite amazing and just... something you'd never see in australia XD
arc of triumph! massive construction in the middle of this huge roundabout with 12 exits XD we climbed to the top of the structure (endless winding spiral staircases - the first one out of countless that i would climb during my time in europe)
just amazing, simply amazing
side note: loving the purple scarf + beret =D hahahaha. typical parisian fashion XD

the thames river - quite stunning right? turned out quite bad in the photo cause of the grey skies but we drove past it on a sunny day and it was breathtaking (but then, that was before i went to switzerland, hahahahahaha)

ahh, first thing i notice is that small opening of blue sky <3

i think my mum won't mind XD but yes, being the city of fashion, a whole line of vogue magazine covers from i-forgot-when til now
and don't you just love the red leaves starting to fall?

icecream! mum helping me to hold - no it wasn't hers, it was ALL MINE =D actually, italian gelato was better, but hahahahaha it was still awesome! haagen dazs after all XP i forgot what flavour this was precisely (ate too much) but think it was something caramelly with nuts and chocolate in it =D and i think this was the only icecream photo i took cause icecream really isn't that photogenic =P

the notre dame cathedral! i mean, how on earth do they build these things?!!!! the detail and the intricacy of all the carvings and just. jawdrop. wow. climbed it as well, hahahaha. can't be bothered to upload photos of view from top of the cathedral, but might just send to you on request if i love you enough XP

yes before you ask, still the cathedral. at first when looking through photos i was like, wait, where's this?!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. it seriously looks like a gigantic castle. but it was such a lovely photo (as in, the subject, not the capturing XD) that i had to share =D

view of paris from the top of the arc of triumph =D don't you just love, love LOVE the buildings and the wide open streets? ^^ and that's it for now - for NOW. i've been quite lazy, and have only uploaded a select few photos XP but thinking of reserving a whole blog post just for the eiffel tower + views from the top of it. shall see, shall see XD

i wish blogger was more efficient and user friendly with photo uploading T_T it always, always, always screws up. sigh. T_T
