The capacity of the human brain is amazing.
My dad was rather high today and decided that he and my mum would sing karaoke, and I got dragged into it (rather reluctantly at first). Thinking that I wouldn't know any of the old-fashioned (and supposedly lame, *cough*) songs that they were going to sing, I was (beyond) surprised when I found I knew the melodies (if not the words) of almost every single song. Especially the ones by 周华健 XD
And suddenly I could see in my mind's eye sitting in the backseat of a red jeep as a little child when daddy had conceded to my constant begging to take me for a drive, when I would be cheering every time he overtook a car while singing along to his favourite 周华健 album that was blasting from the speakers in the back.
Perhaps it was the red wine from dinner (or perhaps it was even the rather copious amounts of coffee from the afternoon), but I stopped humming and started singing along without inhibition (my poor parents), just like when I was younger. I don't think I've had so much fun, in a long time :)
While I've hardly done any work since mid-semester break started (which is kind of bad), I'm glad. It has been tempting to excuse myself with "I don't have time, I need to do work", but Mr Woo's advice has constantly been resounding in my mind.
As you get older, you realise that "I don't have time" is a lie. It's not that you don't have time, it's that it's not important enough for you to make time for it. If something is important to you, you'll always have time for it. Likewise, when you say that you don't have time something, it's actually saying that you have other things which you prioritise above it.The past few days have been great - apple picking in the blue mountains, watching (rather lame, but oh how much we laughed) asian TV game shows together on rainy afternoons, going to church and celebrating easter together, shopping at DFO, cooking lovely dinners (pork chops with potato salad and leafy greens; beef eye fillet with an onion sauce and a side of sauteed carrot, celery and potato), and driving with dad down to bondi and back (which was quite harrowing, actually. Driving through the city is always scary ><")
Nevertheless, life has been good. God is great :)
