I knew that I really shouldn't have... I'll attribute it to the supernatural draw that Fisher Library has - something akin to magnetism. I really did try so hard just to walk past, but nope, it was futile effort (or lack of) on my part.

Maybe figuring out the cataloguing system wasn't such a good idea after all. I don't think I'll ever be productive again. It'll be a sad day when I graduate, BUT thankfully I can continue to renew library membership (for quite an exorbitant fee ><").
But yes, I got myself the two volumes of Charles Lamb's letters and an Agatha Christie (Miss Marple - somehow I never really liked Poirot) novel. There's something innately charming about old books and how thick and dry and crackly and yellowed the pages are and the illustrations are so beautifully ornate. Back when free time wasn't an unheard of thing quotations weren't something thrown into the centre of a blank page, but meticulously decorated and embellished - and worth it, too.
"A good book is the precious life-blood of a master spirit embalmed and treasured upon purpose to a life beyond life". It makes me wonder if modern English is that much of an improvement after all...
although I am extremely thankful that we have moved beyond Chaucer.
It's also incredibly humbling to think that I'm holding an artefact in my hand that has survived for nearly a century. To think of what it's been through!
But yes, enough romanticising... there's bio to study for, and it's the one subject I actually would like very much to do well in. Calculus today wasn't too bad - at least I finished when it seemed that most people didn't - but I can't bear to think of all the careless mistakes I very likely made considering how fast I was rushing through the paper ><"
